Job Summary
The Hosting Services (Platform) team maintains Tessitura Network's mission critical hosting environments for 600+ organizations world-wide. Under the direction of the Director of Hosting Technology, the Systems Engineer assists the Innovation group with technology transformation projects and day-to-day maintenance of services and infrastructure. The Systems Engineer will participate in engineering design and work to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints. They will work closely with Hosting/Platform, Software Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to build and deploy cloud infrastructure and application service, and will serve as an escalation resource for the Systems Administrators.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate extensive technical knowledge in network engineering along with experience administering firewalls, Amazon Web Services, Linux, and Windows Server environments. They will have experience working in a highly available 24/7/365 environment and supporting a highly available database-backed application, and will operate from an automation-first mindset.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Configure, implement and administer cloud infrastructure and related applications to provide a secure, responsive, and consistent computing environment.
  • Own assigned services and services level objectives, including the design and architecture, implementation, and ongoing operation of specifically named technologies.
  • Act as Service Lead for firewalls and certificate management.
  • Develop and execute lifecycle plans, training plans, monitoring plans, testing plans and capacity plans for assigned services.
  • Contribute to and maintain Infrastructure as Code repositories and other workload automations.
  • Analyse and troubleshoot network performance, usage, traffic flows, and access.
  • Create, update, and audit documentation as required.
  • Troubleshoot components of systems, relying on proven techniques for network traffic analysis and evaluation.
  • Engage and escalate to vendors for service restoration.
  • Monitor, manage, and resolve escalated issues.
  • Follow defined processes for incident and change management.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule two nights per month and one weekend every other month.
  • Travel two to three times per year for meetups and conferences as needed.
Required Skills and Expertise
  • 3+ years' experience with networking and enterprise infrastructure.
  • 2+ years' experience installing, configuring, and supporting firewalls.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, including VPCs and subnets, Gateway Load Balancers, compute, and storage.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, Microsoft Windows Server, and other solutions as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Experience with SSL certificate management.
  • Working knowledge of IT compliance, information security, and risk management.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication to all levels of the organizations.
  • Management and delivery of tasks for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Working independently and as a team member in a high-performance, always-available environment.
  • Effective collaboration with peers, cross-functional teams, and team leaders to achieve end-to-end product and process quality.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience to recommend custom solutions to new business problems. Decisions made can have an enterprise-wide impact.
Preferred Skills and Expertise
  • Experience configuring, upgrading and managing Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience automating tasks with PowerShell, AWS Lambda, or similar.
  • Experience supporting highly available applications (APIs and Microservices).
  • Familiarity with and interest in DevOps and SRE principles and practices.
  • Previous participation in technology transformation activities.
  • AWS Certification (AWS Networking, SysOps or Solutions Architect).
