Job Summary:
The Cloud Services team maintains Tessitura Network's mission-critical cloud platform serving 800+ organisations worldwide. As part of a collaborative team within Cloud Services, the Cloud Operations Engineer 2 implements, maintains, and monitors the application-layer services that power Tessitura's cloud platform with increasing independence. This role manages critical platform systems such as Microsoft SQL Server environments, Citrix virtual application delivery, SFTP services, file shares, MFA solutions, and other essential tools while working in a fully remote and cloud-based environment.
The Cloud Operations Engineer 2 works with limited guidance to ensure the reliability and performance of these applications while serving as an escalation resource and subject matter expert for application-related issues. This role collaborates effectively with other Cloud Services teams, Software Engineering, and Information Security to integrate application services seamlessly into the broader cloud environment while beginning to explore Infrastructure as Code concepts to support application deployment and configuration management.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, monitor, and maintain application services in AWS cloud environments
- Administer virtual servers, services, and related applications to provide responsive computing environments
- Manage Citrix virtual application and desktop delivery environments, including basic troubleshooting
- Implement and maintain secure SFTP services and file transfer solutions
- Administer cloud-based file shares and storage systems
- Configure and manage MFA and identity management solutions
- Perform routine maintenance, patching, and updates to platform applications
- Install new software releases from vendors and perform system upgrades
- Collaborate with SRE team on monitoring requirements for application services and respond to alerts
- Provide Tier 3 support for application issues escalated from Global Support teams
- Analyse and troubleshoot application delivery issues within the hosting platform environment
- Document operational procedures and maintain application management guides
- Manage backup and recovery processes for critical applications
- Assume ownership for assigned services including lifecycle and monitoring plans
- Explore and implement simple Infrastructure as Code solutions for application delpoyment
- Collaborate with other teams to implement application requirements and resolve issues
- Provide technical guidance to newer or less experienced team members on application operations
- Handle escalated member-facing issues requiring application expertise when necessary
- Exercise discretion and judgment to ensure all operational service levels are met
- Follow defined processes for incident and change management
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
- Travel two to three times per year for meetups and conferences as needed
- 2 - 4 years' experience implementing and maintaining enterprise application environments, as a systems administrator or comparable position
- Good understanding of cloud computing concepts and AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM)
- Proficiency with Windows Server administration and Active Directory management
- Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops or similar virtualization platforms
- Experience with SFTP, secure file transfer, and file share management
- Understanding of multi-factor authentication and identify management systems
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited guidance while collaborating effectively with team members
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
- Basic scripting experience (PowerShell, Batch) for automation tasks
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and alerting systems
- Solid understanding of IT compliance, information security, and risk management
- Ability to serve as escalation resource for application-related issues
- Clear and concise oral and written communication to all levels of the organization
- Effective collaboration with peers, cross-functional teams, and team leaders to achieve end-to-end product and process quality
- Basic familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK)
- Familiarity with source control (Git, etc.)
- Knowledge of network security principles and basic implementation
- Knowledge of database backup and recovery procedures
- Some knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration
- Cloud certification (AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect-Associate, etc.)
- Understanding of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks
- Experience supporting highly available applications and services
- Previous experience in a 24/7 operational environment
- Familiarity with disaster recovery testing and procedures
- Previous experience in a customer-facing technical support role
